Niko Kovac’s side are in need of a striker after they did not renew Stevan Jovetic’s contract at the end of last season. Boadu would be an ideal replacement for the Montenegrian, being 11 years his junior and having enjoyed a productive 2020/21 season.

The youngster scored 15 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions for Alkmaar as they finished third in the Eredivisie behind Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.

Boadu is considered to be one of the top talents in the Dutch league and has impressed during his two full seasons in the division. With Monaco competing in the Champions League once again, they will need quality and depth, which this signing would provide.

While there is currently no agreement between the two sides, talks between them have been positive and there is hope an agreement can be reached in the next few days.

Boadu is a product of the academy at Alkmaar and has risen through the ranks with the Dutch national team too.

He has scored 11 goals in 11 games for the U21s and made scored on his debut for the senior team in a 5-0 win against Estonia.
