Manchester City Could Turn Their Attention To Bayern Munich Striker Robert Lewandowski

According to the Daily Mail, the Poland talisman is now a target for the Citizens. They have seen Sergio Aguero depart the Etihad Stadium and are in need of reinforcements.

The 32-year-old has two years left on his £300,000-a-week deal at the Allianz Arena. City could turn to the Munich superstar if they can’t land Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

City boss Pep Guardiola has worked with Lewandowski before. He was a regular in the team under him from 2014-16, winning a couple of Bundesliga titles and the German Cup.

The experienced player would represent an option boasting real quality. During the 2020/21 campaign, he scored a staggering 48 goals in all competitions, registering nine assists from just 40 appearances.

City will want to maintain a stranglehold on their Premier League crown. Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are all likely to put up strong fights to challenge and they’ll need to be ready.

Lewandowski has previously earned praise from Bayern legend Jurgen Klinsmann. He called him a ‘phenomenal‘ and ‘unbelievable’ during an interview prior to Euro 2020.

City crave the Champions League. Last season seemed like their time, but Chelsea left Poro with the crown back in May.

The ambition won’t change though and if City can’t attract Kane then Lewandowski would be the next best option for the Citizens.

His goal record is astonishing and he’d surely relish a crack at the Premier League before he hangs up his boots.

That won’t happen just yet though and City could still steal a march on their rivals by landing the clinical Bayern star.

Guardiola won’t want to leave the Etihad without lifting the Champions League trophy and Lewandowski could help him achieve just that.
