Gunners Have Already Bid Twice For Ben White And Are Reportedly Braced To Make A Third Offer For The Brighton Defender

It’s no secret that Arsenal are pursuing Ben White this summer, with the club already having two offers turned down by Brighton.

football.london reported last month that the Gunners were close to reaching an agreement with the Seagulls after having a £40million bid turned down.

The deal was somewhat thrown into doubt after Brighton rejected a second offer for White, but Sky Sports reported last week that a third bid – in the region of £50m – is expected from the north Londoners.

According to the Express, the defender wants his future sorted as soon as possible as he prepares for the start of the 2021/22 season.

White was on international duty with England at Euro 2020, but despite his country reaching the final, the centre-back did not feature.

Even with the former Leeds United loanee not getting on the pitch for the Three Lions, a deal would have been more complicated to complete for the Gunners.

That’s the view of an unnamed football agent, who expects more deals to be completed in the “next few weeks”, they said when speaking to the Express.

“You do not want to distract the player while they are focused on helping their country but our duty is to provide the best pathway for X next season,” they said.

“We need to listen to the clubs who are interested but sometimes their finances also hinge on selling first, particularly at the moment.

“There’s a lot of back and fourth and sometimes little progress but we cannot waste time, even if a transfer doesn’t happen.

“Sometimes you need to be firm in order to get what you desire.

“The current market is a little mad. There are loans, buy options, swap deals. You have to be open-minded to anything.

“I think we will see a lot of deals in the next few weeks.”

Arsenal started their pre-season campaign on Tuesday evening, but were beaten 2-1 by Scottish side Hibernian.
