Arthur Will Have To Receive Surgery And Juventus Don’t Plan On Wasting Any Time

The player will be operated this Friday afternoon with the idea of him being back in time for the Champions League.

Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo will be operated on this Friday in Turin to resolve an issue in his leg that has affected him since Decemeber 2020, according to what ‘EFE’ were told from sources close to the club.

Arthur made the decision, along with the doctors and Juventus, to undergo surgery in order to allow him to compete at the maximum level next season. He chose this moment in particuar as the period of inactivity will reduce the extent of swelling.

Despite the pain he was going through last season, the Brazilian was able to recover in time to be available for manager Andrea Pirlo in vital parts of the campaign, including the Champions League round of 16 against Porto.

In that moment, Arthur was aided by shock waves that momentarily alleviated the pain. The decision to operate this Friday was met with delight from the player, who, according to the aforementioned sources, is close to getting back to full fitness.

The Juventus player made the most of the end of the season to advance his training alongside the club’s management in order to facilitate his recovery, before underdoing the eventual surgery.

It is expected that Arthur will be out for around two months after the operation and his idea is to return to training with the group by the end of August. Serie A gets underway on August 21 and, after the first two gameweeks, there will be a pause from domestic action to make way for international fixtures.

Arthur could well be available to Massimiliano Allegri for the start of the Champions League. This may be important for a Juventus team which, under the management of Pirlo, started him in seven out of eight matches in Europe’s elite cup competition last campaign.
